Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield Love Affair

I’m always in search for the perfect primer and bonus points if it has an SPF!  My holy grail primer is Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer, but I’ve been looking for something with a higher SPF.  The Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield Broad Spectrum SPF30 seems to fit the bill!

This primer is described as treatment, primer, and SPF in one.  It’s designed to blur and protect while combating the signs of aging.  I don’t like wearing moisturizer with SPF and prefer to apply a separate sunblock.  I was using Tizo3 for a few years and really like it, but wanted something lighter for daily use.  It’s still the best for outdoor/swimming activities because it’s very sweat/water resistant.  I’ve been skipping the very important SPF step and just skating by with the SPF15 in the Hourglass primer.  I knew this was not enough, but was careless.  I came across the Murad primer in a late night Sephora search and became very excited about it.

It sounded perfect – sun protection, lightweight formula, primer, and treatment!  I headed first to Naimie’s unsuccessfully before heading to Sephora.  I was successful there and picked up the Cover FX Custom Cover Drops and then dashed out of there before anything else ended up in my basket.  I’ve been wearing the Murad Invisiblur since then and I love it!  The texture reminds me of a very lightweight version of Smashbox’s original Photofinish primer.  It’s lightly scented, but I rather like it and it dissipates.  The finish is soft and silky and makeup glides very easily over it.  As far as makeup wear, it’s about the same as the Hourglass primer on my very oily skin.

It is priced quite high at $65 for 1 ounce.  The pump dispenser is a little flimsy and doesn’t seem as solid as it should be for a $65 product.  But, the benefits of the product far exceed these cons, IMHO.

Pros:

SPF30!

Lightweight

Long makeup wear

Cruelty Free

Treatment product

Cons:

Price

Packaging

It’s still too soon to tell if there any actual/visible anti-aging capabilities, but the primer and SPF30 keep me more than happy!
